GLOSSARY:
For those of you not in the industry, we have provided some definitions of common terms used frequently in the insurance claims investigation field. If you need further clarification or have additional questions please contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Sub Rosa
- Latin for "under the rose," this is a term frequently
used for surveillance, but can also mean any type of undercover
or discreet investigation.
AOE/COE
- Did the injury "arise
out of employment"
or in the "course
of employment,"
or in other words, did it happen at work and/or due to work?
Subrogation - Substitution of one person for another, giving the substitute the same legal rights as the original party. For example, an insurance company may have a right of subrogation to sue anyone whom the person it compensated had a right to sue.
County Government Center - The courthouse or city hall in the county seat.
